Pilsen Neighbors Community Council announces partnership with Ombudsman Chicago High School

Chicago (June 23rd, 2022) – Pilsen Neighbors Community Council announces strategic partnership with Ombudsman Chicago High School, an alternative learning opportunities program for high school students age 16-21.

The main goal of this partnership is to offer the communities and high school students from the southwest side of Chicago an opportunity to continue and finish their education on a different pathway. Within this partnership, Ombudsman will offer students the opportunity to re-engage in their educational careers and return to high school to complete their education in a more flexible environment tailored to their individual needs. This reinstatement into high school is not only focused on the student finishing their education, but also aims to help the student develop a successful college and career path. (college, military, or any other personal and professional development).

“We are excited to partner with an organization like PNCC that values education and its impact to change the lives of students and families in Chicago. Together we can reach more students and provide them the opportunity for success in school and life and instill the value of giving back to their communities” said Sue Leuser, Senior Vice President Operations of Ombudsman Educational Services.

This partnership is one of the first steps taken by the Community Education Center, one of the foundational pillars of the Leader Development Institute, the new home of Pilsen Neighbors Community Council.

The Leadership Development Institute aims to provide a pathway to a better quality of life for these students. Our main goal is to re-engage non-traditional students into educational pathways, such as 2 year-colleges, certification programs, and the trades. The ultimate goal of the Community Education Center is to transform these students into potential job-readiness candidates.

“We are very excited about this transformational opportunity that both Ombudsman and PNCC will have on the life of these students. This partnership means generational impact for these students and their families, and we are committed to advocating for a better quality of life ” said Juan F. Soto, Executive Director of Pilsen Neighbors Community Council.
